Proud of our family business

  • 20 March 2024
Recently, a scientific study was published that shows that family businesses increase the economic stability of The Netherlands. A study that we’ve read with excessive interest and which we as KP Holland can certainly agree with!

Of all the companies in the Netherlands, over 61% are family businesses. According to scientific research by SEO Economic Research, these companies are not about profit maximization, but about the healthy future of the company. For example, the report states, "Family businesses feel closely involved with their employees and the environment by being aware of their social responsibility as an employer in the region." Also, the research shows that family businesses do tend to be more successful in putting innovative ideas into practice, such as a new product or process that reduces costs. These outcomes are something we strive for every day at KP Holland.

As KP Holland, we are proud of our family business. That story began in 1950, when Jan van der Knaap laid the foundation for KP Holland. At the time, the step to grow potted plants was a very bold one. As a pioneer and entrepreneur who knew how to push boundaries, Jan meant a lot to the development of both our family business and Westland horticulture. Meanwhile, the direction of the company is completely in the hands of the third generation. The values of a family business are of paramount importance to us, as is the intrinsic motivation to keep innovating at every step. Together with our people, we aim for plant excellence, long-term flowering pleasure for consumers, growing success for growers and trading partners, a greener world and a pleasant working environment.
