New Spathiphyllum trial in KAS2030

Towards a future-proof Spathiphyllum
The first trial was based on the “standard method of cultivation,” as most growers of Spathiphyllum work nowadays. In this new trial, we are taking a big step toward the future. The focus is on:
· Energy efficient cultivation
· Cultivation without emissions
· Organic crop protection
· Peat-free substrate solutions
In contrast to the first trial, in which we still used overhead watering (energy-intensive), we now work with ebb and flow technology to reduce energy consumption. Conscious choices were also made in substrate (peat-free) and crop protection (organic), with which the trial responds to the ambition of completely emission-free and circular cultivation.
Trials within the context of KAS2030
The trial takes place in Wageningen University & Research's KAS2030, which is specially equipped for this type of innovation. This greenhouse was designed as an example of future-proof greenhouse horticulture: energy-neutral, emission-free, circular and economically profitable. Within this setting, new cultivation concepts are developed and tested, both in terms of technology and biology.
The results of this Spathiphyllum trial are of great value to us, but also to the entire sector. By participating in this trial, we remain at the forefront of breeding and growing strong Spathiphyllum varieties. In addition, we are happy to contribute to the development of a sustainable future for greenhouse horticulture.
