General information on Spathiphyllum
The Spathiphyllum originally comes from the tropical rainforests of South and Central America, particularly countries like Colombia and Venezuela. 30 species have been identified. Spathiphyllum is an arum and belongs to the same family as the Anthurium. 

Spathiphyllum is a bushy plant and can be identified by its lanceolate leaves which are shiny and dark green. The flower consists of a spike with a white spathe around it. The plant produces flowers in abundance. NASA research has shown that Spathiphyllum purifies the air of hazardous substances.

The plant prefers a shady position. Its ideal temperature is between 18-25oC. Make sure the plant gets enough water. Fertilise every 2 weeks. As the flowers age, their colours will change from white to green. This gives them an extra ornamental value!
